Journal History

EARN was founded in 2001 by the S Spanish Association of Agri-food Economy (AEEA) to facilitate dissemination of relevant academic work in the field of agri-food economics and natural resources.

After 17 years the Journal has published over 240 papers.

EARN receives valuable contributions of CEIGRAM, Cajamar and, since 2016, of the UPV Publisher, always under the lead of AEEA.

In 2011 EARN won a quality endorsement by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and right now has achieved the third renovation.

In 2012 the Journal joined Scopus. in 2016, it joined Emerging Science Citation Indext of Web of Science.

Since 2014 José María García Álvarez-Coque (Universitat Politècnica de València) acts as a Chief Editor. At present, the Editorial Board (EB) members are Laura Riesgo (Universidad Pablo de Olavide), Silverio Alarcón (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) and Julia Martin-Ortega (University of Leeds). Olga Moreno-Pérez (Universitat Politècnica de València) acts as an Assistant Editor.

Katerina Kucerova (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid - CEIGRAM) is the Journal Manager since 2009.

In 2015 the Editorial Staff Committee and the Advisory Committee were renovated, in line with an expansion of the geographical and thematic scope of the journal aimed at consolidating its international projection.

EARN accepts manuscripts both in Spanish and English, and uses a rigorous blind peer review process. During 2014 - 2017, EARN accepted around 1/3 of the articles subjected to evaluation. The average time span between reception and acceptance of manuscripts is around 4 months.

Apart from scientific articles, the Journal also publishes short contributions in the form of Notes - under 2,500 words - or contributions to the Tribune section, which addresses the academic debate on current issues in the field of agricultural and resource economics.
